Mystery of Being Alive
Energetic health is another way of saying the body/spirit/mind being in balance. Surely, everything is in vibration, so when I talk about energetic hygiene it can be presumed that anything can affect everything.
Our goal is to know more about how we work/how we’re affected so we can use that wisdom to take good care of ourselves and become all that we can be. We were taught how to “study” in classes and measured by grades, but the kind of study that helps us realize our potential is more than that. We are a mostly rational species. We have needed this for our survival and to build the world we see around us. Even the universe can be expressed in numbers. We work with formulas to advance science and technology. As humans we try to create meaning and order out of seeming chaos. The unknown intimidates and sometimes excites us. We are always peering into the unknown through the known. Our greatest accomplishments create a kind of aperture that hopefully expands what we’re able to perceive and implement into science and technology. Science and technology are quite obviously a reflection of our current understanding of ourselves (as a whole). Our understanding, no matter where it comes from, informs the other. Things don’t just begin to “exist” because we just realized they are there. Nor does cataloging something tell us all there is to know about it. It is through this conscious relationship with what we discover that informs our personal being, or what could be described as the universe itself. “Why?” is one of my favorite questions. All of the answers along the way dissolve into a kind of nothingness. I’m pretty sure the Buddha described himself as “awake”.
I suppose I’m hoping to remind us of the beauty of mystery and to create room for it within ourselves. This is what inspires science and for me, the soul. My approach to life has been one of awe and wonder and devotion. Truly, the devotional quality of being is indescribable. The way I express this puts me into a more conscious relationship with the whatever it is. This is the way I have always lived.
That’s a lot to say to preface talking about energetic health. Energy could be defined as the substance. We get to decide to a great degree the quality of this substance. In studying the way things work we realize on more levels the principle of cause and effect, and in our realization we realize greater capability and subsequent responsibility. Our character acts like a key.
It matters less the exact work you’re doing right now, but more that you’re showing up to learn from whatever it is you’re doing. There isn’t a destination. There isn’t some grand award for accomplishment that relieves us from our cosmic role as an individual. No matter the grandeurs of some ceremonies, we still wake up the next day and have a stomach to feed, a mind to care for, and bills to pay. Dancing in the mystery has great rewards we can bring into the world and a sense of fulfillment that comes by no other means.
I write like I paint. This is to create space for stillness/interpretation/feeling/personal insight. The potential for transformation. I’m not trying to define. I am the act of creation. Life is like this. We are accustomed to standing on what feels like a kind of solid shore as we stare at the waves going by, but if we were to understand more deeply we would understand on some level we are no different…and in this understanding we realize the seemingly transparent quality of existence. Still, we get to dive in and feel the rush of life and all of the amazing ways it feels.
