Do we really know?
Humanity’s understanding of the universe is a reflection of the degree to which it understands itself. Science is a collective attempt and expression. Science tells a story. It could be compared to a retrospect of the life-work of an artist. Understanding the work as a whole tells us more about the qualities of the artist than exactly what or who they were…even though we might call labeling and moving on to the next expression some kind of success...“There, I figured it out.”. I wonder if anything could be further from the truth. I wonder if we’re missing the point.
How do you relate with what you don’t immediately comprehend? Can you attempt to be in undefined space?
Creating another definition and knowing something are very different agendas. Definitions talk about the definer’s experience of themself much more than what might actually be or not be there.
What if the universe is living? What if we come to understanding of ourselves through relationship? Can these relationships lead us to an understanding of ourselves so we can understand what is real? I think the study called science is after this after all.
For the time, we may feel more like the experiencer.
The art is alive, and within our relationship to it we can realize so much about ourselves. It is possible one day, in retrospect, that we realize our previous modus operandi fit the reality we used to live as.
There can be realizations in life that melt the way of experiencing the universe as a library of definitions rotting in a “comfortable” construct called conclusion.
Science reflects humanity more than it represents what there is to know. Our technical instruments are only almost capable of recognizing information to the degree to which we are first capable of recognizing it ourselves. It’s like we’re playing catch in the backyard with pops. We throw something out. It throws it back. We have an orchestrated arrangement, a stimuli, and a receiver. Not everything cares about that stimuli. Not everything fits in (or is even allowed) to that receiver. We have a predetermined outcome, predetermined non-outcome, and little attention and room for variables.
We learn more from what didn’t fit into our expectations. We can learn what these expectations tell us about ourselves and how we impede our progress. We learn more from the anomalies/unknowns than what confirmed our beliefs. We can realize awareness that is not rooted in and as belief.
Science and spirituality are not opposed. I think they are both good means to similar realizations.
We have the most amazing instrument and information right here at all times. It is called our body.
